Pho Vietnam, NYC: Hearty, Healthy and Satisfying
If you’re looking for a friendly atmosphere with hearty, healthy food that won’t break the bank, look no further than Pho Vietnam on Chrystie Street.
On the first day of our recent visit to New York, our 14-year-old daughter came down with what seemed like a devastating flu bug. Her eyes were glassy and she was clearly not feeling well. We were all afraid she would wind up missing out on all the fun.
However, the moment she fell ill, I knew I needed to find a good spot for pho. For me, this Vietnamese staple is both the ultimate comfort food and — like chicken soup — the ultimate healing food. Fortunately, I tracked down Pho Vietnam on Chrystie Street and dragged my dubious family there for a meal that would prove a revelation.
My daughter ordered a Pho Bò Saté and slurped it down. Subsequently, we put her to bed for a few hours. Her recovery was nothing short of startling.
Not only did Chloé’s symptoms disappear, she — and just about everyone else — began craving pho. In fact, in the space of a week-long visit to New York, we wound up eating twice at Pho Vietnam!
The Pho
If your appetite is limited, or if you plan to order more than one dish, you may want to plan on one portion of pho very every two people. The portions are generous, and delicious. So, eating the entire portion is a genuine temptation!
If, on the other hand, you are hungry and short on funds, you will find the pho to be an excellent investment. This rich soup is hearty, nourishing and delicious. One portion is guaranteed to be more than enough to satisfy all but the hungriest diners.
Planning Your Visit
Pho Vietnam is a casual establishment. Thus, reservations are not necessary. The friendly and welcoming staff will find a table and put you at your ease.
The service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is humble and welcoming. There is no need to dress to the nines — though the cuisine may merit it. You will feel right at home at Pho Vietnam, regardless of your attire.
